Buying ethically isn’t always easy and Blanks is changing that for fine jewelry. Here are just some of the ways we keep our commitment to being an ethical brand.
Sourcing: We spent over a year vetting manufacturers and selected one with a proven track record of creating a safe and healthy work environment for their skilled artisans.
Giving back: Every month, we select an organization and donate about 10% of our profits to their cause or efforts. So far we have donated a total of $4,665 to the following institutions;
November/December 2023 - $1,408 to Doctors Without Borders, an org that provides medical care to folks in conflict zones, natural disasters, and epidemics
January 2024 - $1,305 to Mercury Free Mining , an org working to eradicate the harmful use of mercury in artisanal and small scale gold mining.
February 2024 - $1,020 to Women in Need, an NYC based org which provides housing and other supportive services to women and their children.
March 2024 - $532 to Palestinian Children's Relief Fund, a US based org that provides medical care to Palestinian children who lack access.
April 2024 - $500 to the Alliance for Responsible Mining which works to transform artisanal and small scale gold mining into a socially and environmentally responsible activity, while improving the quality of life of artisanal miners, their families and communities
May 2024 - $175; this month we focused on bringing visibility to women's sports and gifted five WNBA League Pass Subscriptions which allows folks to watch women's basketball games!
June 2024 - $415 to Women in Need, an NYC based org which provides housing and other supportive services to women and their children.
July 2024 - $390 to Operation Olive Branch, a volunteer run and grassroots movement created to amplify the request of Palestinian families desperately looking to flee the ongoing genocide.
August 2024 - $320 to the Women's Sports Foundation, founded by tennis legend Billie Jean King to advance the lives of girls and women through sports and physical activity. They focus on supporting girls in under served communities where they offer a variety of programs to help girls thrive.
September & October: $1,024 to the North Carolina Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee towards relief and aid efforts for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Price Transparency: We prioritize educating customers on what it truly costs to source ethically. On most of our product pages we often have a breakdown of the material, labor, transportation, and duty costs. On some pieces, our production partners may not give us that full breakdown and in those instances we still publish the full final cost of the piece to us.
